Rain, thunderstorms coming today

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are on tap for today. Highs will be in the middle 50s in southern Wisconsin, upper 60s in far northern Illinois, and lower 60s along the I-88 corridor.

Rain and thunderstorms will become more widespread late in the day and tonight. A severe threat exists nearby in the Quad Cities and Peoria; a strong storm or two cannot be ruled out locally late today and again late Monday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue Monday with highs pushing back into the 60s.

The chance for rain will be on-an-off through next Saturday. Temperatures will cool into the 50s for highs.
