The National Weather Service in Norton confirmed a tornado touched down in Lincoln, Rhode Island earlier in the day. Additional survey work will be needed on Wednesday to assess any further damage, according to officials.
The NWS also says they will visit a section of North Providence to see if a tornado also touched down there.
"It was loud," said Marisa Crowell, of Lincoln, RI. "There was booms. I heard a few booms and like a snap and the lights went out."
Crowell said she found trees all over her driveway and one that went right through the windshield of her car.
The tornado touched down in Rhode Island just before 4 p.m. as a string of violent thunderstorms rolled through. At least a dozen homes were damaged and there's debris everywhere.
