Showers, cooler temperatures to hit Phoenix as Hurricane Rosa moves inland

Hurricane Rosa's predicted trajectory through Arizona from the National Weather Service.

It won't be a hurricane, but the remnants of tropical storm Rosa are still on track to pummel large swaths of the state with inches of rain during the first part of the week.
Hurricane Rosa was classified as a Category 1 Hurricane at 85 mph when it was located approximately 385 miles southwest of Punta Eugenia, Mexico Sunday morning.
Forecasters expect Rosa to drop to tropical storm status as it reaches the Baja Peninsula Monday before turning into a depression by the time it reaches Mexico.
Cooler waters and drier air will continue to weaken the storm as it travels over northern Mexico and hits the southwestern portion of the state. From there, Rosa will make a clear path across Arizona and into Utah and Nevada.
The first signs of the approaching storm are expected to make an appearance Sunday night with heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Rain and high winds hit Yuma and Pima counties early Sunday afternoon as the skies over Phoenix grayed.
