A flash flood in Athens, Greece took the lives of 21 and damaged over 500 businesses and homes. This was a result of heavy rainfalls in the region, and this has caused concern over Europe's future weather forecasts as the current weather has the capability of creating more chaos. It is even stated that climate change may have had and will have a hand in extreme weather conditions within the next century.
Greece has made efforts to help as much as they can. According to the CNN article, "as many as 86 people have been rescued from floodwaters, with the injured transported to hospitals. The fire department said it has received at least 600 calls for assistance and operations continue, according to its press office." According to the Weather Channel article, "the disaster was among the worst to have hit the Greek capital in decades and the government declared a day of national mourning."
