Texas Snow

It is a phenomenon that is a sight to behold. Some might say that this is a result of climate change, and it's not an impossibility to suggest that this is the case. However, it is rather odd that snow would be present in the southern region of the U.S., or to be more specific, Texas and northern Mexico. People have welcomed this change of weather, and there are possibilities in the forecast depicting a blizzard to follow in due time as it has happened before.

It isn't uncommon for snow to fall in the southern states as this occurred as far back as 1987, but it's still considered a rarity for as much as 7 inches of snow to fall in Texas. Of course, an article by Newsweek states that the U.S. is currently experiencing a La Nina winter meaning some states will experience different weather conditions that wouldn't usually happen. As the article says, "southern states are expected to be drier and warmer during La Niña, which is one of the phases of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation climate cycle. The weather pattern is caused by a retreat of a jet stream over the North Pacific Ocean, according to Stephen Baxter, a meteorologist for the weather service. That allows for colder air to “spill into western and central Canada and parts of the northern contiguous U.S.,” he wrote in a blog post for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration."
