Latest Winter Weather Summary

- Great Lakes
Lake-effect snow will continue to the lee of most of the Great Lakes, with the exception of Lake Erie, through this evening with localized accumulations of another 3 to 5 inches likely.
- Pacific Coast
Several weather systems will impact West coast, especially California where rainfall amounts will approach double digits for the week. This is a relatively mild pattern, therefore snow levels will be above 7000 ft for most of the time with little impact even at pass levels.
- Northeast
Weak, relatively fast moving weather system will move from the Tennessee Valley off the Mid-Atlantic Coast Tuesday. To the north and west of the low there will be enough cold air to produce snowfall. However, this will not be a major snow producing system. Largest accumulations will likely be in an area of Pennsylvania to the northwest of Philadelphia where 4 inches or so is not out of the question. The metroplex line running from Washington DC through Philadelphia, New York City and Boston will likely see a mix of snow and rain. Washington should stay all rain. Each of the other metro areas will see some snowfall Tuesday morning through Tuesday night but that snow could mix with some rain at times limiting snowfall to an inch or two at most. Air temperatures should range in the low to mid 30s so that most roadways will only be wet. Boston looks like it will be impacted by rain early in the day but by evening rush hour temperatures should drop back to near the freezing mark and precipitation will change to all snow. Once again however only an inch or two of new snow is expected through Tuesday night.
