Warmer weather to follow unusual ice event

ASHEVILLE — An icy winter storm that caused dozens of wrecks across the mountains will give way to unseasonably warm temperatures early this week.
Tuesday is expected to see highs in the low 60s, well above the normal high for this time of year, which is in the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday’s storm of mostly freezing rain and sleet coated streets and sidewalks with a thin layer of ice following several days of frigid temperatures.
