Next week a July 'Polar Vortex'? Depends on who you ask

Next week will bring a span of unseasonably cool days and nights that could dip into the 40s in some Chicago suburbs, say weather forecasters.
In a tweet on its official Twitter feed, the National Weather Service in Romeoville described the system in terms familiar, if perhaps unwelcome, after this past winter.

"A July version of the Polar Vortex forecast over Great Lakes next week!" began the tweet, which has been retweeted more than 65 times.
Maybe, said Jack Boston, a senior meteorologist with the weather service AccuWeather. But it's a somewhat subjective science.
"I would say it’s kind of, sort of, a polar vortex," Boston said. “One man’s polar vortex is another man’s unusually cold trough.”
WGN-TV Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling was more dismissive in an interview with RedEye.
