Another Possible Disturbance May Occur After Hurricane Dorian is Gone

Hurricane Dorian is gone, but there’s another tropical disturbance that could affect South Florida’s weather this week. A bluster of showers and clouds north of Hispaniola has a low chance of developing into something tropical over the next week, but is still expected to affect South Florida’s weather in the coming days.Gusty winds, a high risk of rip currents, and end-of-week rains are expected as the disturbance moves west-northwestward into the southeastern Bahamas toward Florida. Dangerous rip currents are already a concern along Palm Beach County’s coast. An increase in breezy winds out of the east beginning Tuesday will escalate the risk. The forecast calls for wind gusts of up to 23 mph at Palm Beach International Airport as the disturbance interacts with high pressure over Florida. The high temperature Monday reached 90 degrees in West Palm Beach, which is just one degree above normal. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature topped out at 98 degrees at Palm Beach International Airport. Overnight lows will dip to near 80 degrees. The normal low for this time of year is 75 degrees.
