Severe Weather Knocks Out Power for Many in Twin Cities Metro
"CHANHASSEN, Minn. - The latest round of severe weather is making its way out of Minnesota this morning.
The National Weather Service says wind speeds were clocked at up to 80-miles-an-hour overnight in Scott County while gusts in the 50's and 60's were common across the lower third of the state. Some trees were downed and nickel-sized hail was reported. Over 66,000 Xcel Energy customers are without power in the Twin Cities metro, including Stillwater, where traffic was backed up in downtown area this morning because power was out to the lift bridge.
The biggest issue across the state now is flash flooding. Added rainfall today through tomorrow could cause flooding from southeastern Minnesota right up through the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Brainerd and Hinckley -- and into the Arrowhead, all the way to Canada."
