Weekend forecast: Ice storm for Midwest
An ice storm is forecast to hit the Midwest this weekend, with major cities such as Chicago and Detroit affected. A significant ice storm is forecast to hit parts of the central U.S. late Saturday and into Sunday.
States where freezing rain and ice are likely include Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Some of the worst icing is likely in Iowa and Illinois. Ice accumulation from the storm could be from a quarter to half an inch. People can expect treacherous travel on roads, and airport runways could be coated in ice.
