A dusting of snow this morning was enough to slicken the morning commute and jam the rush hour with dozens of spinouts.
Illinois State Police said they responded to several crashes along a stretch of Route 53 near Higgins Road in the northwest suburbs, and Lake County authorities were called to a major accident at the intersection of Midlothian Road and Ashbrook Drive in Mundelein.
