National Weather Service confirms tornado touch down in Bainbridge


PhotoCHENANGO COUNTY (AP) -- The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado touched down in southern Chenango County when a strong cold front swept across the region Friday night.
The agency says the tornado landed around 8 p.m. Friday in the town of Bainbridge and traveled 3.2 miles northeast, ending near Sidney in Delaware County. The tornado lasted about five minutes and had a maximum wind speed of 110 mph.
No injuries were reported. There was some property damage from the tornado and accompanying storm, including uprooted trees, damaged roofs and power outages.
