Severe weather triggers tornado warnings in Central Fla.


ORLANDO, Fla. —A large area of showers and storms associated with a low-pressure system over the Southeast moved through Central Florida on Saturday and brought several weather warnings and reports of tornadoes to the region.

Firefighters in Orange and Seminole counties received numerous reports of lightning striking homes.Orange County firefighters battled one fire on Judy Court near Holden Avenue. No injuries were reported.There was also a report of lightning hitting a home in Oviedo, but Seminole County firefighters said there was no damage.Work crews in the southern sections of Orlando and Orange County also responded to reports of downed trees and power lines.
The showers and storms will continue moving through the area into the evening hours.A tornado watch remains in effect for Brevard and Osceola counties until 5 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for those counties until 4:30 p.m.
