Tornado, severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Bladen County

— Just before 8 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Bladen County after radar indicated a storm near Ruskin and Elizabethtown, moving east at 15 mph. The warning lasts until 8:45 p.m. Communities including Ammon and Lagoon are in the path of this storm.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for Bladen County, along with Columbus and Pender counties, until 9:22 p.m.
The chance for the Triangle to see damaging, severe storms Monday is only a slight one, according to WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel.
Cloudy, humid conditions mean that the occasional showers and even thunderstorm or two could form during the evening, but any storms likely won't be widespread or long-lasting.
The story was different in the Sandhills, where parts of Moore, Hoke and Cumberland counties saw thunderstorms packing quarter-sized hail and winds gusting up to 60 mph.
"It appears that the more severe storms will stay well south of Raleigh today," Fishel said. "They've got the juice and we don't," he said, referring to much warmer air over Fayetteville, where the highs reached into the 80s.
The National Weather Service has put the southeast on alert for severe weather all week after an outbreak of tornadoes that claimed 16 lives Sunday in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
That threat increases for North Carolina Tuesday and Wednesday. "Anybody is in play for severe weather, any time after mid-day on either day," Fishel said.
Several rounds of showers and storms with heavy rainfall are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, and the National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch in anticipation of accumulation of two to three inches by Wednesday afternoon.
