Extratropical Cyclones Forming

Cyclones are three dimensional and as such are sometimes found primarily aloft with little coherence between the surface features of fronts and precipitation. The example cyclone provided here produced large snowfall totals in Denver during the New Year holiday, causing significant impact to local residents and nearby ski resorts.
