They are expecting more rain in the midwest after it has already flooded many plaecs and caused a few deaths.
Illinois
- Record flooding has been been recorded at more than a dozen river gauges in the state. New record crests include: Des Plaines River at Des Plaines and Riverside; Vermilion River at Leonore; East Branch DuPage River at Bolingbrook; North Branch Chicago River in Chicago; Illinois River at Morris, Ottawa, and LaSalle; Fox River at Algonquin Tailwater. Also records at Spoon River, Seville; Lamoine River at Colmar. The Rock River at Bryon hit a record, but the period of record only dates to 2000. A record was also broken on the Rock River at Moline.
- Heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar will shut down its East Peoria, Ill., factory on Sunday as the Illinois River approaches an expected record 30-foot crest early this week.
- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn declared at least 41 counties disaster areas from flooding.
- Record flooding is forecast for the Illinois River near Havana by Tuesday or Wednesday and for several other locations downstream by late week.
- High water could be responsible for two deaths in the state.
- On Thursday morning, heavy rain in Chicago ripped open a sinkhole large enough to swallow three cars and injuring one driver badly enough that he had to be hospitalized.
- April 2013 is currently the third wettest April in Chicago's history with 7.83 inches of precipitation.
