Winter Weather Watch 2014-2015

Winter Weather Watch 2014-2015: 48-Hour Snowfall ForecastLong-Lasting Arctic Cold and a Weekend Worry

Polar Air Invasion for the Eastern two-thirds of the nation as we head into the weekend.
The arctic outbreak will plunge temperatures across the eastern two-thirds of the nation through the weekend. Temperature departures greater than 30-35 degrees colder than average across the western Plains, then 10 to 20 degrees below average around the Appalachians by Thursday spreading across the mid-Atlantic to Southeast into the weekend.
Lake-effect snow will set up across the Great Lakes by Tuesday night and continue through the week. The wind direction will determine exactly where these snow bands will set up. In a general sense we will see a northwest flow through Thursday transitioning to a westerly flow over the weekend. I would expect to see major cities like Cleveland come into play Thursday and possibly Buffalo over the weekend. Snowfall totals in the most persistent bands through the end of the week will be measured in feet
