Winter weather Watch

48-Hour Snowfall Forecast
Winter Storm Bozeman (Pacific Northwest to Rockies)
Winter Storm Bozeman impacts the Northwest as moisture from an incoming Pacific storm system interacts with cold air that will be backing into the region. A wintry mix of Snow will move into southern Washington and Oregon Thursday and spread rapidly eastward to Idaho, Wyoming, northern Utah and Colorado.  There will be a threat of freezing rain across the Willamette Valley and even Portland will see a bit of freezing rain late tonight into early Thursday morning.

Lake-effect snow will continue into the weekend
Areal coverage of snowfall will be limited but within these small scale snow bands, accumulations of feet are likely.  The Upper Great Lakes receive the brunt of the snow through Thursday morning, then as the arctic air deepens over the Lower Great Lakes, places like Cleveland, Erie and south of Buffalo will be in store for heavier snowfall.  One huge spot for snow will be the Tug Hill Plateau east of Lake Ontario where several feet of snow is likely through the beginning of next week. Next week even colder air is forecast to cross these warmer bodies of water.  The bottom line is that we will likely see lake-effect snow through the middle of next week.
Weekend/Early Next Week System
A second weather system will then spin up to the lee of the Southern Rockies and wintry precipitation is forecast to overspread the Southern Plains through the Tennessee Valley late in the weekend.  There is still a LOT of uncertainty as to how this scenario will play out, both in the timing of the weather systems and the amount of moisture that will be brought north into the cold air.   Right now it looks as though Oklahoma through Arkansas into Kentucky and Tennessee could be impacted by wintry precipitation. http://preview.weather.com/storms/winter/news/winter-weather-watch-2014-2015-20140930
