Kansas Tornado Captured Up Close
Severe storms in the Midwest Friday, September 18, 2015 produced this tornado.
No organized severe thunderstorm activity is anticipated over the next few days.
An area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere will move very slowly over the Desert Southwest, leading to daily showers and thunderstorms in parts of the Southwest and Rockies. A few severe storms are possible into Wednesday.
On Monday afternoon 1-inch hail fell near Roswell, New Mexico as well as near Durango, Colorado. A funnel cloud was spotted Monday evening in Coburg, Oregon just north of Eugene.
On Sunday night there were downed trees and power lines were reported in Glendale, Arizona and street flooding was observed in Phoenix. Hail up to golf ball size was also reported in the Glendale area.

Short-Term Thunderstorm Forecast
Into Early Tuesday Morning
- Showers and thunderstorms remain possible from Arizona into Utah, eastern Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and western Texas. The greatest risk for an isolated severe storm will be found from southern Utah into portions of central and western Arizona.
- The risk of thunderstorms will also spread farther north into southern Idaho, Wyoming and southern Montana.
- Showers and thunderstorms remain possible from Arizona into southern and eastern Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and western Texas. An isolated severe storm is possible in central and eastern Arizona, central and southern New Mexico, as well as western Texas.
- A few thunderstorms may also develop in the central High Plains and into parts of the Midwest, as well as along the western Gulf Coast.
- The chance for thunderstorms will persist in portions of Arizona, New Mexico, southern Utah and southern Colorado. A severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out in southern New Mexico and southwestern Texas.
- The risk of thunderstorms will also spread farther east into much of central and western Texas, as well as western Oklahoma and Kansas.
