If you can't handle the thought of winter weather, you probably shouldn't keep reading this story. But for those of you looking forward to the change of seasons, snow has already fallen in at least five states around the country.
"A dip in the jet stream has allowed cold air to plunge south from Canada into the Great Lakes and Northeast" says weather.com meteorolgist Quincy Vagell. "Couple that with just a little bit of moisture, and you've got the right conditions for snow."
Here are some of the best photos of this season's first dustings.

New York

In New York, most of the snow was confined to the Upstate regions; the Adirondacks and the highest peaks of the Catskills have seen a light coating of snow this weekend.

Pennsylvania

As early as Friday, mixed precipitation was reported near Scranton, Pennsylvania. Otherwise, snow fell in northwestern portions of the state, including Erie, this weekend.

Michigan

In Michigan, snow fell across portions of northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula this weekend. Locally enhanced lake-effect snow caused as much as 5.7 inches in places, though most parts saw just a light dusting.

Vermont

Across Vermont, the central and northern Green Mountains saw their first snow of the season on Saturday. A few flurries also reached the northeastern highlands of the state.

New Hampshire

Light snow dusted the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire several weeks ago, the season's first measurable snow at the highest peak in the Northeast U.S.
