No severe thunderstorms are forecast through much of the upcoming week as most of the country will remain under the influence of a relatively stable environment. Thunderstorms may become more numerous by Friday night into next weekend as a potent storm system is forecast to develop over the nation's heartland.
Aside from the thunderstorm threat, heavy rain from a series of storm systems may cause isolated flooding across portions of the Northwest.
Friday Night - Sunday, Dec. 13
- Thunderstorms may develop ahead of a robust storm system from portions of Texas and Oklahoma late Friday to parts of the Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley and Southeast over the weekend.
- Details are unclear at this point, but some severe risk may accompany the aforementioned storm system.
- Periods of heavy rain with localized flash flooding may continue to impact parts of the Northwest into the weekend.
