Hurricane Watch Issued for Bermuda: Nicole Is Expected to Strengthen and May Move Near Bermuda Midweek

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda, meaning that tropical storm conditions are expected within 36 hours.
A hurricane watch has also been issued for Bermuda. This means hurricane conditions are possible in Bermuda within the next couple of days. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.
The National Hurricane Center says that a hurricane warning will likely be required for Bermuda later today.
Nicole was located about 365 miles south-wouthwest of Bermuda, as of Tuesday morning.

Current Storm Information

Tuesday and Wednesday, atmospheric conditions will become more conducive to strengthening as wind shear relaxes and it moves over warm water. Nicole could become a hurricane as early as Tuesday.

Dips in the jet stream coming off the East Coast of the United States will help steer Nicole in the general direction of Bermuda Wednesday night into Thursday.

Projected Path

It's possible Nicole could be a Category 1 or 2 hurricane as it moves near Bermuda.
Tropical storm conditions are possible on Bermuda beginning late Wednesday, with hurricane conditions potentially arriving Wednesday night.
Heavy rainfall is also possible with 2 to 4 inches of rain expected through Thursday.
In the meantime, Bermuda will likely experience rough surf conditions over the next few days.
All interests in Bermuda should monitor the progress of Nicole very closely and make preparations as needed.
Last Thursday, Nicole briefly became the sixth hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season well south of Bermuda. Continued organization during that day led to an upgrade to Category 2 status.
