Weather said both Spain and Italy have been here by “severe” weather over the past 24 hours with strong winds sparking heavy rainfall in Venice and heavy snowfall in northern Spain.
British holidaymakers will have seen their plans disrupted after extreme flooding left Venice underwater.
Northern Spain has also been hit by an “early taste of winter” after extreme  hit the country.
BBC Weather forecaster Matt Taylor said: “This is Venice, a city of canals. City underwater.
“Worst flooding in 10-years we reckon there.
“All caused by something called the Acqua alta where strong winds push the tides inland and it’s fighting against rivers which have already swollen by heavy rain inland.”
He added: “It’s not just there, we have seen some pretty severe weather, northern Spain has had an early taste of winter too.
“Strong winds coupling with some pretty heavy snowfall as well.”
