Two Dozen Tornadoes Hit South in Deadly Severe Weather Outbreak November 07 2018 07:30 AM ED

A total of 24 confirmed tornadoes across six states were spawned by a severe weather outbreak in the South overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, leaving a trail of damage and killing at least one person.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville gave the tornado that touched down in Franklin County a preliminary EF2 rating.


In Tupelo, Mississippi, downed power lines and trees blocked roads late Monday. A semi was blown over on Interstate 22 by a tornado rated at least EF1.

Also Monday night in Louisiana, at least one tornado was spotted in Natchitoches Parish, where damage was reported near Natchez and Natchitoches.


The Storm Prediction Center said at least two homes were damaged in the parish due to a tornado. No injuries were reported.
