The Supermoon

In recent news, the Supermoon has received attention last weekend for its appearance in the skies. This was a sight to see across different parts of the world, especially from space itself. Such a Supermoon occurs when the moon reaches the perigee which is the closest point to earth as its orbit is more of an ellipsis than a perfect circular orbit. Of course, the moon isn't physically close, but its distance and full moon cycle give off the illusion that it's indeed at a close proximity.

Much like with the Harvest Moon, this Supermoon is dubbed the Cold Moon due to its appearance in the winter season. There are even places in which the Supermoon does indeed look like a Harvest Moon.
