GREENVILLE, S.C. —A storm system will bring showers and thunderstorms to our area throughout the day and night, and the possibility of severe weather continues in the region.
Heavy downpours of rain and frequent lightning can be expected with today’s weather.
Meteorologist Chris Justus said the threat for severe weather will increase again this afternoon.
Chris said the greatest chance of severe weather will start around 3 p.m. and last into the overnight hours.
A frontal boundary has pushed into our area. This front will intensify storms across our area and could lead to gusty winds, large hail and even a few isolated tornadoes.
Flooding will also become a major threat overnight into Wednesday for areas that see heavy downpours from the storms. Here is a look at what you can expect hour by hour:
9 a.m.-12 noon: Scattered showers
12 noon-3 p.m.: Scattered storms.
3 p.m.-12 midnight: Severe storms possible
Wednesday 12 midnight-11a.m.: On and off periods of very heavy rain. *Flooding possible*.
Wednesday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.: Scattered storms, some of which could be severe.
A flash flood watch is in effect through Wednesday evening for most of the region as well.
Highs today in the low to upper 70s, overnight lows of 59 in Asheville and Hendersonville and 64 overnight in Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson.
