New Orleans Storm Produces Large Hail and Breif Tornado Warning

The sky turned a strange shade of red around New Orleans Wednesday evening as a tornado-warned storm pushed through, dumping heavy rain and hail in the area.At 5:53 p.m., radar detected a possible tornado, setting off a warning for parts of St. Bernard and Orleans parishes. Though there was no visual confirmation that the storm actually produced a tornado, large hail was reported across the area. The New Orleans Advocate reported. The city's Office of Emergency Management said the northern half of Kenner sustained minor damage. There were reports of downed power lines and trees, as well as street flooding.
