Rain, hail, and lightning in St. Louis

On Tuesday, April 7 St Louis, Missouri was inundated with 3 inches of rainfall along with some very active lightning.  During this severe down pour reports of 2 in hail were also made. The rapid deposition of rain created flash flooding across the region. Lightning was also noted for causing problems with a traffic light for barges on the Mississippi, the problem was noted and corrected before any problems occurred. The strong winds associated with the storm were also responsible for a semi overturning its trailer from recorded gusts of up to seventy mph. The path of the jet stream and seasonal warming are set to carry these storm systems across the mid united states with some more severe weather predicted for Wednesday and Thursday. No reported injuries have been noted thus far.
