Perhaps you have heard that this year will not be bringing our usual vibrant fall colors. The past few months leading up to October have been very strange, producing heat waves and a lack of rain. While this is part of the Fall colors dilemma, Meteorologist Angela Fritz says its the sun to blame.
Fritz says, " When the sun moves south of the equator after the autumnal equinox, daylight in the Northern Hemisphere steadily shrinks through December. Without this light, the trees can’t do their business". Despite this lack of sunlight, the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are changing colors right on schedule. She goes on to say that there is no fear because the "brilliant" Fall colors that we know and love are just around the corner.
