Florence Expected to Turn Into Major Hurricane

According to a post by weather.com, Tropical Storm Florence is expected to turn into a dangerous hurricane that could hit parts of the east coast by the middle of this upcoming week. According to the article, "Conditions in the atmosphere and ocean, including decreased wind shear and warm sea-surface temperatures, have improved and should allow florence to grow into a major hurricane by Monday" (weather.com). The article also mentions how the tropical storm is already creating swells that can produce life threatening surf. Meteorologists are predicting that Florence could turn into a category 3 storm or higher. The peak impact is expected to occur on Thursday, although this could happen sooner or later, and is expected to hit Virginia through the Carolinas. The storm could produce heavy rainfalls and strong winds that could knock down power lines and cause damage to homes.
It should be interesting to see if Florence turns into a major storm like meteorologists are predicting and how much damage it creates when it hits the mainland.
