Drenching Florida Tropical Disturbance to Move Into Gulf

Showers and thunderstorms will continue over South Florida and the Keys late this week with the potential for heavy rainfall and isolated flooding. The system causing the downpours will move into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.
While Edouard will remain well out to sea over the Atlantic, a disturbance will continue to move westward across South Florida through Friday.
According to AccuWeather.com Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski, "The disturbance is transitioning from a non-tropical feature to a tropical one."
The disturbance will enhance the routine showers and thunderstorms that typically affect the region during middle of September. Several inches of rain may fall in some locations.
While the number and intensity of the downpours and thunderstorms will be greatest during the afternoon hours, there is the potential for urban and poor drainage area flooding at any time of the day or night in the pattern.
A small number of the storms can also bring gusty winds and a waterspout.
Florida cities likely to experience the most frequent downpours and lengthy disruptions to travel and daily activities include Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Naples, Cape Coral, Marathon and Key West.
