Tropical Disturbance

Tropical disturbance, called Invest 92-L, has emerged over the eastern Gulf of Mexico, after soaking parts of Central and South Florida,. This disturbance will track west through the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.

It's roughly the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. Is this anything to worry about?

Barriers to Overcome

First and foremost, the low pressure center will need to generate persistent thunderstorms closer to its center.
The infrared satellite image below shows thunderstorms over the western Gulf of Mexico, but that's with a separate system.
Instead, Invest 92-L is located over the eastern Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast.
