Winter Storm Astro: First Major Snowstorm of Season Closes Schools in Minnesota; Wisconsin Roads Covered in Snow

Winter Storm Astro has made its presence felt across several states in the Upper Midwest, bringing heavy snow, gusty winds and plunging temperatures to the region.

"Considering this is mid-November, we're about 20 degrees below the average high, and we're not going to get anywhere close to average, probably for the rest of November," said Mike Seidel, meteorologist for The Weather Channel, reporting live from Forest Lake, Minnesota, Monday morning.

Astro is expected to impact some six million people across eight states Monday, with winter storm warnings being widely issued by the National Weather Service. Some areas could receive more than a foot of snow from the winter storm.
