Parts of the South and Gulf Coast will be stuck in a wet rut this week with the threat of locally heavy rain and flash flooding.

      In fact, parts of the northern Gulf Coast already have been soaked by more 7 inches of rain. Cottondale, Florida, picked up 11 inches of rain by early Monday morning. Mobile, Alabama, had its fourth wettest April day on record Sunday, picking up 7.28 inches.
      A few roads were flooded on Monday morning in Fort Worth, Texas and by Monday afternoon portions of western Texas, near Lamesa, reported several roads closed due to flooding. Flooded roads also created problems in McAlester, Oklahoma and a bridge was submerged near Haywood, Oklahoma.
      Numerous roads were also flooded and impassable near Marianna, Florida, as well as in southern Mobile County, Alabama. Flooding stranded at least one vehicle in Midland, Texas, on Sunday, as well.
