In addition to heavy rain and possible flooding, severe storms will threaten parts of the South at times this week.
Tennis ball size hail was observed in Woodsboro, Texas, north of Corpus Christi, and golf ball size hail was reported in Burkett, Texas, southeast of Abilene, on Monday evening.

Orange areas indicate where thunderstorms are possible over the next 12 hours and red areas (if any) highlight areas where severe thunderstorms are possible.
Through early Tuesday morning, the main corridor of isolated severe storms will stretch across central and eastern Texas, including Dallas-Ft. Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. These storms could pack large hail or strong wind gusts, but this does not appear to be a widespread severe weather event. It's possible that a few severe storms could rumble as far east as the northern Gulf Coast.
Rain and thunderstorms will continue across the South on Tuesday. Though the severe thunderstorm threat will be low overall, a few cannot be ruled out from southeast Texas across the South and into the Carolinas and southern Virginia.
