Severe storms packing high winds and flooding rainfall ripped through northwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least 45 people and injuring several hundred more.
Hundreds of homes collapsed and trees and power poles were downed by the storms in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to The Associated Press. Information minister Mushtaq Ghani said that thousands of people were left homeless and crops were washed away.
This is second time in the last week that deadly storms have hit southern Asia. Last week, 42 people were killed in northeast India by a complex of severe storms.
Including the massive 7.8 earthquake in Nepal, this is the third deadly natural disaster to strike this part of Asia since early last week.
