Heavy Rain fall in Northern England

Up to four inches of rain could fall on high ground in northern England when the region is hit by torrential downpours.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for heavy rain covering north-west and north-east England and the Yorkshire and Humber regions between 8am on Wednesday morning and 11pm that evening.

The yellow alert warns of travel disruption with spray and flooding on roads contributing to longer journey times for motorists.
Bus and train services will also probably be affected with delays possible. There is also a risk of flooding to properties.
A Met Office statement said: “Heavy and persistent rain is expected across parts of north and northwest England through much of Wednesday.
