Video: Lightning strikes ground crew worker

Surveillance Video Foot captured the moment a ground crew worker at Southwest Florida International Airport was struck by lightning. The bolt of lightning struck the tail, sending a current through the plane’s fuselage. The worker was knocked back and received third-degree burns.

While over 80% of all flashes are in-cloud or cloud-to-cloud variety. This video demonstrates the rare occurrence of cloud-to-ground.
