In the recent hours of the night the super typhoon by the
name Meranti achieved a category 4 title due to increased wind speeds that went
from 80 mph on Sunday morning to about 130- 150 mph Monday morning. As you can
see in the image below the projected path of the typhoon is expected to hit Taiwan
early Wednesday morning and from the data thus far it seems that most of the damage
will be done there. They should be expecting damaging winds with flooding
rainfall, and possible mudslides. As for the damage prediction for the Northern
Philippines and China, this greatly depends on how the mountains in Taiwan disrupts
the storm.
