Snakes and Alligators in the Wake of Hurricane Irma

After the severe flooding and wind caused by Hurricane Irma, Florida residents have started to pick up the pieces.  The damages to their buildings and communities are very severe and left them with little of their homes.  Despite a struggle for many of the people, Florida's wildlife have also taken a toll.

Irma's strength has displaced hundreds of snakes, alligators, and more around the state.  The state's Department of Health has begun to issue warnings about coming across any of these animals, as they may be dangerous.  According to Weather.com, "Snakes, alligators and other dangerous creatures have been known to wander in unfamiliar areas in the days after tropical systems because the storms are strong enough to move them from their natural habitat".  In addition, these animals are purely wild, as all Florida Wildlife refuges secured their animals before the storm.
