Extreme Weather in Malaysia


Warning: Extreme Weather Expected To Hit Malaysia In 2019








Over the last few years, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has collected data which has shown a significant constant increase in the weather activity.

The Director-general of the Malaysian Meteorological Department, Alui Bahari, explained to Utusan that based on the data collected from all their observation centres throughout the country, the annual average temperature pattern has shown an upward trend over the last 40 to 60 years. 

Alui also elaborated that the increase of the global temperature has caused the sea level to rise to 1.8 millimetres a year which has a direct impact on island nations, including Malaysia. He also stated that the impact of the weather on humans can be reduced through early preparation.
