Houston area to see severe weather, potential flooding Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8

The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain for the Houston area beginning Friday, Dec. 7, with the potential for flash flooding beginning in the afternoon hours.

The NWS Houston-Galveston branch released a briefing Dec. 6 detailing the storm, which is expected to bring 2-6 inches of rain to the majority of the Greater Houston area, with some localized areas receiving 8-10 inches. The area is under a flash flood watch.
