New Zeland Mix

Humidity, storms and fine spells: NZ in for a mixed weather week

It's a mixed bag for New Zealand's weather this week as the working year wraps up and Kiwis start looking forward to the summer holidays.
High pressure has brought clouds but settled Monday to much of the country, although there may be sunnier spells later in the afternoon.
In the middle of the week fronts are expected to move across the country, meaning rain, cloud and humidity for the North Island.
A low pressure system straight from the Tasman Sea will hang over northern areas from Tuesday to Thursday. Aucklander and Northlanders can expect showers and possible thunderstorms later in the week.
But MetService meteorologist Tui McInnes says because showers are localised by nature, much of the country will escape the wet weather and can expect fine breaks throughout the week.
The unpredictable nature of December weather means Kiwis are encouraged to check in with MetService and other forecasters before they plan their daily activities.
