A rare occurrence of aurora borealis, also known as the
northern lights, was seen across Canada and northern United States this week.
In the Southern Hemisphere a display of southern lights, known as aurora
australis, could also be seen. Auroras are lights that are caused by a “spray
of charged particles from the sun interacting with Earth’s magnetic field.” Another
event occurred in this past October. I missed both views, unfortunately.
