Much of Siouxland is in for a nasty weather day on Wednesday. Rain, high wind and even a chance of slushy snow is expected to blanket the area beginning early Wednesday morning. ABC9 Meterologist Fred Hexom says wind gusts of 50 miles and hour are possible with conditions deteriorating just in time for the afternoon commute.
A major storm system set to strengthen over the Plains tomorrow is to blame for the wacky weather. Western parts of the U-S have been battling bad conditions so far. The High Plains and central Rockies including places like Denver, Co and Reno, NV have already seen snow accumulations.
The same low pressure will move into eastern Nebraska Wednesday morning and western Iowa by afternoon. Rain, possible thunderstorms and snow should be expected across much of the ABC9 viewing area on Wednesday. Strong or severe storms are possible in western Iowa as the warm sector of the system crosses.
