Severe weather cripples parts of Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — Severe weather is pounding parts of south central Texas, forcing multiple road closures and school closings.
The airfield of Austin-Bergstrom International airport is also closed due to weather, the airport tweeted from its official account.
Nearly 6 inches of rain fell within an hour at the airport, the National Weather Service said, flooding the ground floor of the Austin Air Traffic Control Tower and Terminal Radar Approach Control facility.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it is assessing any water damage to wiring and other equipment.
